4 Days to Go! Special Behind the Scenes Update
about 2 months ago
– Sun, Oct 20, 2024 at 07:56:50 AM
Hi everyone! We’re down to 4 days remaining in the campaign, and we’re so excited to share these final days with you! It's been an incredible ride so far, and today we'd like to share a little bit of what goes on behind the scenes by going over some of the process that takes place while building out a key location such as Taliesin City.
The first step of the process is getting an understanding of its purpose in the game, and detailing all of the key locations and where they fit in the story. It's important that a destination as large and involved as Taliesin is thoroughly thought out in order to ensure that it can accommodate the game's story from start to finish with a proper game flow for the player.
Our solution for achieving this was to district out the city, and open up the unique districts throughout different points in the game. Eventually the player will have access to the full city, but by the time they do they'll have learned its entire layout and feel comfortably at home exploring it in its entirety.
One of the first districts the player gets access to is a working class residential area, and the first step in that is defining the look of the buildings and other key elements within it. Above you can see some of our final black and white concepts for this location.
Once the key looks of the district is established we can then create a full-color render of it. This process requires strong attention to color harmony and detail as our content artists will be referencing it with a high degree of specificity.
The art for Taliesin is a huge undertaking and the above mock is not its final form, but even the early results are beautiful. It's clear to see the direction its going, and by looking back there are many steps along the way to ensure it keeps going in that direction.
Hopefully this has been an exciting look into part of our creation process. Please feel free to share any thoughts or questions in the comments.
As we approach the end of our campaign we'd like to express our gratitude once more! It's your support that defines our success.
Don’t forget, if you’ve been eyeing a higher reward tier or want to add a limited reward, now is the perfect time to upgrade your pledge! 💪 Once the campaign ends and Kickstarter processes payments, it will be harder to make changes or grab those exclusive items. So make sure to lock in your rewards before time runs out!
Stretch Goal Hit: M.Faerie Exploration Mechanic!
– Sat, Oct 19, 2024 at 01:07:18 PM
As we push toward our next goal, we’re excited to introduce the M.Faerie Exploration Mechanic – a brand-new way to explore the world of Forge of the Fae! 🧚♂️
Meet Fiora’s Mechanical Faerie! Fiora calls it M.Faerie, and her friends affectionately call it “Bug,” a bit to her dismay. The M.Faerie is a trusty, steampunk companion that will soon be able to explore areas that are otherwise unreachable by humans. With this stretch goal unlocked, Bug will have its own mini-game, allowing players to send it into tight spaces and hidden corners of the world, all in search of valuable items, secrets, and new paths.
But here’s the catch—there’s only so much Bug can do at first. Fiora, being the skilled inventor she is, will need to craft upgrades to improve Bug’s capabilities. Collecting all the goodies from each area will require you to get creative with your upgrades, making the exploration mechanic both strategic and rewarding! 💪
The M.Faerie Exploration Mechanic will add a fresh layer of gameplay, letting you discover even more secrets in the vast world of Forge of the Fae. ❤️🔥
Your support means the world to us, and if you’re enjoying the campaign, don’t forget to share it with friends who might love Forge of the Fae too. Let’s make sure no one misses out on this magical journey before it’s too late! 💪
